North Korea Winter Tour

As winter starts to creep in, the landscape in North Korea is incredible, both in the countryside and in the cities. As the country is less developed than most others in the region, wildlife flourishes and the air is fresh.

This will be an action-packed five-day tour taking in much of what North Korea and especially Pyongyang, Kaesong, and Nampho have to offer. We will visit the Demilitarized Zone or ‘DMZ’. It is tense here yet ironically more relaxed than a visit to the South Korean side. It's a fascinating experience to look on as soldiers from North and South peer across at each other just meters apart.

You will visit several impressive monuments during your stay, built in honor of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Un in addition to Kumsusan Palace of the Sun where both presidents lay in state. The USS Pueblo, captured by the North in 1968 will also feature on the tour.

To get a sense of the economy of North Korea – we will check out some industrial sites such as the West Sea Barrage and Nampho Dam and also a co-operative farm that will give you a real sense of what life is like for those that work in agriculture here. If the country does start to look more towards the international community of nations, the North Korean economy is poised for growth.

Plenty of North Korean food will be on offer – including delicious duck and lamb BBQ in addition to ginseng Chicken, kimchi of course and some more adventurous fare if you are up for it! For one night we will stay at Ryonggang spa resort which features a mineral spa bath in each room.
